Interstellar University Conference
July 1, 2026
9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Kansas State Capitol, Room 3-N, Topeka, Kansas, USA
The Interstellar Research Group is dedicated to supporting the wider network of organizations and institutions working to advance humanity’s long-term future in space. This page highlights external events—hosted by partners, collaborators, and aligned groups—that contribute meaningfully to interstellar research, education, and public engagement.
These events are not organized by IRG, but they represent important opportunities for our community to learn, participate, and connect across disciplines. By sharing them, we aim to strengthen the interstellar ecosystem and encourage collaboration among scientists, engineers, students, policymakers, educators, and space-interested citizens.
Featured External Event: Interstellar University Conference
The Interstellar University Conference convenes interstellar researchers, Kansas State officials, educators, and members of the public to explore the proposal of an Interstellar University in the Ad Astra State. The event will focus on potential objectives, curriculum concepts, and long-term strategies needed to build an institution dedicated to interstellar studies and sustainable innovation. Discussions will include presentations, collaborative brainstorming, and pathways for incremental development.
Kansas provides a uniquely strong foundation for this effort, with its aerospace history, statewide university system, observatories, manufacturing and engineering capabilities, and the Cosmosphere’s extensive collection of spaceflight artifacts. As part of the USA@250 commemorative period, the conference also contributes to the national reflection on science, exploration, and the future of education.
